The COST Action FP1204 GreenInUrbs has initiated a pan-European survey to establish a baseline understanding of how urban forest resources are either considered or presently recorded in National Forest Inventories. The research is the first attempt to create such a comprehensive overview. The results can support expansion of National Forest Inventories to include urban forests and to recognise their contribution to the quality of the urban environment and the well-being of urban dwellers.
Dear all, This survey is an integral part of research COST Action FP1204: Green Infrastructure approach: linking environmental with social aspects in studying and managing urban forests. Our activities focus mainly on “evidence on how best to design and maintain urban forests and Green Infrastructure for the maximization of social benefits“. The irony is that we often learn more from mistakes and work experiences that go wrong or not according to plan than from the things we do that are successful. And yet, these mishaps are hardly ever published / recorded, whereas learning from such experience is essential for practitioners, users and researchers alike. The findings will be published in a book, as a result of COST Action FP1204, and widely available. You can fill here

Even in the sectors of Green Infrastructure (GI) and Urban Forestry (UF), further collaboration among stakeholders is needed – and therefore we want to better understand the actual background and needs of three categories of stakeholders involved in GI and UF: research scientists, policy makers and private professionals. We would appreciate your help in this endeavor by answering a short questionnaire.
